Day #10: Focusing on 6 Meters and RTTY!

Greetings to all DX enthusiasts!

The 9M1Z DXpedition has reached its 10th day, and with only 5 days remaining, we’re excited to announce a strategic shift in our operations to maximize QSO opportunities.

Effective today, we’ll be prioritizing the 6-meter band, utilizing both FT8 and RTTY modes across all bands. While we’ve attempted CQ calls on lower bands like 80m and 60m, propagation conditions in Borneo haven’t been ideal for successful contacts.

The magic of 6 meters shines through! We’ve had some success with the dipole antenna, but to enhance signal strength, 9M8HAZ is deploying a powerful 3-4 element 6-meter yagi antenna. This directional antenna beams towards Europe, Japan, Asia, and North America, significantly improving our reach in FT8 mode (50.313 MHz).

Stay tuned to our website, www.marhazk.com/9m1z/cq, in the coming hours for updates on our 6-meter activity.

The good news continues! RTTY mode has shown promising results, and we anticipate having two or three operators working this mode shortly. Don’t miss your chance to chase us and add this mode to your ATNO (Award for Trying New One).

A heartfelt congratulations to all stations who have made contact with us thus far – we’ve logged an impressive 15,239 QSOs!

We look forward to connecting with even more DX hunters in the coming days.
